FAQ
Questions I get asked
Answers to common questions about delivery, rates, working practices, and engagement models.
Do you work fully remotely?
Yes. I only support fully remote delivery.
Are you open to outside IR35 contracts?
Yes. I prefer engagements classified as outside IR35. All contracts will be reviewed by an external party to verify IR35 status.
What about inside IR35 contracts?
Inside IR35 contracts are less likely to be accepted. If you have an inside IR35 opportunity, please get in touch and I can discuss it, but outside IR35 is strongly preferred. All contracts will be reviewed by an external party to verify IR35 status.
Can you work with our contract templates?
Yes. SME templates work well. For larger organisations, independent legal review may be sensible. All agreements are subject to review and may be adjusted to reflect operational circumstances.
What does a typical engagement look like?
Every engagement follows a clear path: Discovery, Agreement, Build & Iterate, Solution Sign-Off, and Handover. Some are a single-day review; others are multi-week delivery sprints — but scope, deliverables, and fee structure are always agreed in writing before work begins. The more complete your requirements, the stronger the outcome.
Do you offer a warranty for fixes?
Yes. The 30-day warranty period starts from solution sign-off. Defect fixes identified within that period are covered. Fixes may be subject to additional cost where the issue is caused by a change in requirements, third-party dependencies, environment changes, or work outside the agreed scope. See the Terms of Use for full warranty details.
Do you include testing?
Unit testing is included. Formal test execution is expected to be carried out by the client or their appointed tester. Scope, deliverables, and acceptance criteria are agreed in writing before build starts. See the Terms of Use for the contractual details.
Do you hold business insurance?
Yes. Current cover includes Professional Indemnity, Public Liability, and Cyber cover, with supporting policy schedule and summary documents in place.
Insurance certificates can be provided as part of project startup.
Do you use AI in your development work?
Yes. AI tooling is used in internal workflows and internal pull requests where it adds value. Every line of code and documentation is fully reviewed, tested, and meets the same quality bar as hand-written work before delivery. AI-assisted development can also be applied to client deliverables on request.
Why should I hire a human consultant instead of just using AI directly?
AI is a tool, not a substitute for experience and judgment. You get accountability — a named professional responsible for quality, scope, and outcomes. I understand your business context, ask the right questions before coding, and make trade-off decisions based on what actually matters to you, not code optimization extremes.
Handover is built in: complete documentation and knowledge transfer so you own and maintain the solution independently. Complex problems need human judgment about requirements, architecture, and risk. AI can accelerate delivery, but I ensure it doesn't compromise quality or introduce surprises.
How quickly can you respond?
Response times depend on the type of enquiry. See the contact page for current commitments.
Do you support DevOps work?
Yes — CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and deployment scripting are typically scoped as part of a wider engagement.
Do you work with Azure?
Yes. I can work with Azure App Service, Functions, SQL Database, and Azure DevOps.
What are your rates?
£100/hour (exclusive of VAT) or £500/day (9am–5pm with 1-hour lunch break). For projects beyond 6 months, rates are negotiable. All prices exclude VAT. See the Pricing page for more details.
Do you charge VAT?
Yes. PageTech Solutions Limited is VAT-registered (VAT no. 514 2957 90). VAT at the standard rate is charged on all applicable invoices.
What is your current availability?
For detailed availability information, visit the availability page.
Do you provide ongoing support after handover?
Yes. Defect fixes within 30 days of sign-off are covered under warranty. Support beyond this (retained or ad-hoc) is available at additional cost.
Can you work with our existing team and processes?
Absolutely. I integrate into your existing workflows, tools, and delivery cadence — not the other way around. I work with Microsoft 365, Azure DevOps, and GitHub as standard, and I’m happy to adopt other platforms where needed. Access to your systems and environments is the client’s responsibility to arrange — once that’s in place, I can hit the ground running.
