Frequently asked questions

What does production reliability work cover?

Production system assessment, diagnostics and investigation, reliability-focused improvement, integration reliability support, and documentation and knowledge transfer. Rather than only resolving the immediate issue, the work looks at the wider environment around a system: operational processes, technical dependencies, integrations, support considerations, documentation, knowledge distribution and maintainability. Jamie's background includes production support, root-cause investigation and backend system support.

Our system is up and running, so is it reliable?

Not necessarily. Reliability is more than availability. A system may be running but still be difficult to support, and an integration may be functional but poorly understood. Confidence tends to decline long before a major failure, particularly when production issues become recurring distractions, dependencies are poorly understood or documentation no longer reflects operational reality. Those are the situations this work is designed for.

Can you investigate recurring production issues?

Yes. Root-cause investigation, diagnostics and troubleshooting are central to the experience, across backend systems, integrations, workflow-driven operational systems and document-processing environments. The aim is to understand the environment in which the issue exists, not just to clear the immediate incident, so your support team gains visibility into system behaviour and the same problem is less likely to return.

How is production reliability work charged?

Investigation and support are typically time-based at £80 to £100 per hour or £400 to £500 per day ex VAT, because the scope is not always known up front. Where a defined improvement emerges, it can be quoted as a fixed price agreed in writing after scoping, with a 30-day defect warranty. Delivery is 100% remote, and a free 20-minute consultation is available.
